Wide and Tall

This makes me want to get a dog. But of course, they never stay this tiny, do they?

I’m not a big fan of the HBO series Boardwalk Empire. I tried watching a few episodes when it debuted earlier this year. But I just couldn’t get into it. But I can get into this advertising campaign. I heard about it a few days ago, and now Laughing Squid has a few photos. I’d love to see this in person. Too bad it won’t be around for long. But if you are in NYC, you should stop by and see - but only on the weekends.
More photos can be found on Laughing Squid’s blog post.

Look at the photos. This neighborhood is not hallowed. The people who live and work here are not obsessed with 9/11. The blocks around Ground Zero are like every other hard-working neighborhood in New York, where Muslims are just another thread of the city fabric.
I’m not sure how everyone who reads this blog feels about this subject. I’m adding this link I stumbled across as “food for thought”. Make up your own mind about how you feel about this subject. (via Daring Fireball)

I can’t say I’ve seen this book before. Looks like a good read. You can order it from Amazon.

I’m seriously hoping “The Avengers” movie doesn’t suck. But it has great potential to do so.

Another remake, reboot, whatever you want to call it? (discovered via thedailywhat):
First Look of the Day, Too: Warner Bros. Animation announced today that it has teamed up with Cartoon Newtork for a revival of the much-loved 1980s animated series ThunderCats. The updated cartoon “will sport a heavy anime look, thanks to Warner Bros. Animation’s collaboration with Japan’s Studio4°C” (see promo pic above). No word on an official premiere date, but the show is expected to begin airing sometime in 2011. [variety.]
An interesting idea for a camera bag. Too bad it only comes in white. (discovered via photojojo):
The Cloak Camera Bag: a shoot-through satchel with a zippered bottom for toting SLRs incognito. Your camera never leaves the bag so you’ll never miss a shot again. Pairs well with stick-on moustaches, shoe phones, and crime solving.

Japan-The Strange Country (English translated ver.) from Kenichi Tanaka on Vimeo.
This Is Informative, You Should Watch It of the Day: Graphic designer Kenichi Tanaka’s animated infographic “Japan — The Strange Country” covers everything you wanted to know about Japan, but were too busy warbling along to the Cowboy Bebop closing credits song to ask.
[discovered via thedailywhat who found it via feingut.]
Update 2: Looks like the video has been taken down. I found it (here)[www.youtube.com/watch though. Update: For some reason, Kenichi had to take down the English version of the video. It’s still available on YouTube here.
