  • Why I Bought Boys' Underwear For My Daughter

Yes, it’s sexist, but it’s also just weird and sad. Why can a boy walk around with Yoda on his underwear, but a young female "Star Wars" fan can’t? It’s gender marketing at its very worst.

Mia has a Darth Vader “Star Wars” shirt. If she wanted “Star Wars” underwear, I wouldn’t hesitate in buying them, even if they were boys underwear.

  • Disney Set to Aquire Lucasfilm

Star Wars Episode 7 is targeted for release in 2015, with more feature films expected to continue the Star Wars saga and grow the franchise well into the future.

This is unexpected but nice to see. I’ve always thought that an adult-flavored Star Wars universe would make a great series on HBO. Perhaps something like that can now happen.

  • Volkswagen Commercial: The Force - Video

Currently, my favorite commercial, even though I’ve yet to see it on television. I just love the kid’s reaction in the end. I can imagine Mia having a similar reaction.

  • When You Created Your Very Own Universe....

    Baron Papanoida aka George Lucas

…you can do anything you want.

I usually don’t go to StarWars.com, but I received a spam message and decided to check it out. I saw the little figure to the right and thought it bore a resemblance to Ol' Georgie himself.  I guess I was right.

Eagle-eyed fans watching Revenge of the Sith may have noticed George Lucas' first-ever Star Wars cameo as the blue-faced Baron Papanoida waiting outside the Coruscant Opera House. What some may not realize, however, is that the entire Lucas enclave -- Katie, Amanda, and Jett Lucas -- also made brief appearances in the movie, immortalized now for the first time as Hasbro action figures!

For $26.99 (on sale), you too can own the Lucas Family!

  • QotD: My Intro to the Big Screen

What was the first movie you remember seeing in a movie theater?
    Question submitted by mainmor.

Star Wars.  At least it was only known as Star Wars back then.  I would go with my older sister to work on the weekends.  She worked at Liberty House in San Antonio Shopping Center, which was located across the street from the Old Mill Six theaters.  I would wander the shopping center - yes, all by myself - as she put in her 6 to 8 hour work day.  If I went to work with her, I had to be willing to occupy myself the whole day.

There is only so many times you can go to the San Antonio Hobby Shop or to the bookstore, and so, I would cross the street and go to the Old Mill Six theaters  I still remember the first scene: the music, the scrolling words, the laser fire, the smoke, and Darth Vader.
